We are McDonald’s “charity of choice.” While McDonald’s owns the licensing rights to the Ronald McDonald House Charities name, we are individually owned, and operate as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Portions of our annual operating costs are graciously funded by McDonald’s and owner/operators of local McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Baltimore area and on the Eastern Shore. The remainder of our annual operating income comes from the generosity of individual, corporate and foundation donors.
McDonald’s involvement with the Baltimore RMH extends far beyond monetary support:
- Members of the McDonald’s family are dedicated volunteers and serve on the Board and committees of our House, as well as serving as breakfast and dinner volunteers.
- RMHC Donation Boxes are hosted in restaurants and enable McDonald’s customers to support the House by donating change in the canisters.
- McDonald’s conducts an annual fundraising event in November called McHappy Day. Since 2002, it has raised $170 million for RMHC and children’s charities around the world.
- RMHC Baltimore is able to award grants to not-for-profit organizations serving the needs of children in our community through the McDonalds Owner Operators that serve the Eastern Shore, portions of Delaware and the Greater Baltimore areas. Global Ronald McDonald House Charities also matches a portion of these donations to allow us to provide this valuable service to the community.
No individual, group, corporate or foundation donor can solely support the Ronald McDonald House. We need the support of the entire community and greatly value any support you can extend to our charity, whether it’s through cash donations, your time or fundraising efforts.
